A current student at Southern Methodist University (SMU) in Dallas, Texas, Zoe Reardon has the distinction of being a Second Century Scholar, which includes a four-year, merit-based scholarship. A business major, Zoe Reardon belongs to the Alpha Lambda Delta (ALD) honor society.
Founded at the University of Illinois in 1924, ALD recognizes first-year students for academic excellence. Each year, the honor society awards several paid fellowships to exceptional members to help them attain graduate degrees. The ALD merit-based awards include one $7,000 fellowship and one $5,000 fellowship, as well as eight $4,000 fellowships and sixteen $2,000 fellowships.
To be eligible for the fellowship, ALD members must have maintained at least a 3.5 cumulative grade point average (GPA) through to graduation. Fellowship applicants are also evaluated on the basis of academic records, personal recommendations, essay responses, and their extra-curricular and community service activities. The recipient must be enrolled full-time in an advanced degree program and complete the year of study for which they received the award.
